Who is Karma & Co?
We are a small business based on the beautiful Wadandi Boodja - Saltwater People's Country - in the South West of Western Australia. Karma & Co was born from a desire to provide both beautiful and functional yoga and fitness tools, as we have found that we have had to choose either one or the either in years gone by.
Reading into yogic philosophy and accompanying Buddhist texts has found us on a journey to learn more about the Six Elements of Nature, which has become such a huge inspiration for the Karma & Co design journey.

Why do you use Polyurethane and Natural Rubber?
We have tested all manner of yoga mat materials in the quest for the perfect mat, from cork to rubber to various polymers and even vegan suede. The hardest part was finding something that has the ultimate grip, while also being friendly to the plant. Our search led us to Polyurethane, which is a much greener alternative to PVC (which is a nasty and harmful plastic polymer still used by many mat manufacturers today!).
Polyurethane - or PU - is degradable over time (with the correct disposal), and does not require the same toxic processing as PVC. It is also known to the world as vegan leather.
We found that the performance and longevity of PU was much higher than any of the other natural alternatives, which is why we use it as the upper layer of our yoga mats, atop the natural rubber base.
We are hopeful that as time goes on and more research is done into the field of developing plant-based materials that mimic these properties - via innovations that can be cost effective and carbon neutral - that we will be able to use a more eco-conscious material in the future.

What are your commitments to sustainability?
In light of the fact that PU is a better material, but still not the best, we want to make sure that we are doing everything we can to make sure that we are impacting the Earth as little as possible.
Our packaging that we send your products in is 100% home recyclable.
We are excited to also offer our customers the opportunity to return their well worn Karma & Co mats to us (at no cost!) for us to coordinate the correct recycling, with a thank you gift of 25% off your next purchase.
